The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by the UN countries in 2015, are meant to ensure a sustainable balance in climate and economy worldwide. At Ellepot, we support all 17 goals, but we have chosen to focus on four goals where we believe we can contribute the most. We continuously revise our approach and ensure that our actions are in line with the selected goals to create a sustainable future. These goals guide our efforts to integrate sustainability and responsibility into everything we do.
Overall goal: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all (Sub-goal: 6.4)
Our contribution:
Help users of The Ellepot system to increase water-use efficiency in connection with the propagation of plants.
Overall goal: Ensure access to afforable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. (Sub-goal: 7.2 and 7.3)
Our contribution:
Ellepot will continuously focus on energy optimizations in the factories in Esbjerg and Ribe.
Overall goal: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. (Sub-goal: 12.5)
Our contribution:
We will continue the work of further spreading global knowledge and use of the Ellepot system to both the horticultural sector as well as to the retail sector. In order to reduce plastic consumption as well as making production more sustainable.
Overall goal: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable manage forest, combat desertification and halt and reverse land degadation and halt biodiversity loss. (Sub-goal: 15.2)
Our contribution:
Ellepot contributes to more sustainable forest production for industrial forestry. The ambition is that the Ellepot system is the preferred system among the world's leading forest producers in the southern hemisphere.

From plastic to paper pots
Oksasen, a Finnish hydroponic producer, used up to 12 million plastic pots per year in their production of lettuce and herbs.
By converting their production to the Ellepot system which is based on degradable, FSC®-certified paper pots, Oksanen has reduced their annual plastic consumption by 18.4 tons.
